Photo 1817. A shot from the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society 2003. This shows how steep island villages are built on many levels. The timber balcony structure, top right, is typical of older Skopelos and would, at one time, housed the outside toilet !. This particular shot, taken on the island of Skopelos, Greece, in 1999, in tiff format has a file size of 29.4 Mb. Print sizes and costs are at the bottom of this page. Photo Libraries may take into their library database, on agreement, on a 50% basis, in either tiff file or 35mm slide format.
Photo 1659. A shot from the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society 2003. This lone fishing boat, captured in the harbour at Skopelos Town on the island of Skopelos in the Greek Sporades group of islands, is reflecting the golden light of dawn. It hangs in my conservatory and prints beautifully at A3. The original, in tiff format, has a file size of  70 Mb. Photo 1733. A shot from the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society 2003. Flash photography is not allowed in Cairo Museum and as this shot was taken on ASA 50 Fuji Velvia, there was much leaning on cabinets and breath holding going on. This is one of the guardians of  a Pharoah's tomb. The original, in tiff format, has a file size of  70 Mb. Photo 1664. A shot from the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society 2003. A taverna that we had visited the night before had colourful chairs and I returned at dawn to take some photos. This is at the high point of Skopelos Town on the island of Skopelos in the Greek Sporades group of islands. The kitten (they are all well fed on this island) seems to be asking for another plate of octopus and another glass of ouzo. The original, in tiff format, has a file size of  70 Mb. Photo 1634. I first travelled to St. Ives, Cornwall, England in the late 1950's. Then it was a days journey from South Wales (250 miles) as there were no motorways and no bridge across the River Severn. Roads and other means of access have improved over the years and now it is easily accessible from anywhere in Britain and the numbers of accents from Mid and North Britain have increased. We holiday there in November and February, outside the season, when the old quiet place can be remembered. This shot was taken on a Bank Holiday weekend when I was in the area on business. It is printed to A3 size and hanging in our conservatory where we can sit and stare and thank God that there are quieter moments. The original, in tiff format, has a file size of  70 Mb. Photo 1742.  Part of the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society in 2003. Walking about,  in St. Ives, Cornwall, England, just before dawn broke properly, I came across "Budgie" the boat with twinkling lights behind. A later conversation with the famous artist 'Ponckle' revealed that she took early morning walks also. As I mentioned to her, those that rise early have the satisfaction of looking, smugly, at others knowing that you have had the best part of the day. Taken in 1998 the original, in tiff format, has a file size of 29.4 Mb. Print sizes and costs are at the bottom of this page. Photo 1676. Part of the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society in 2003. On the approach road to Cardiff Bay. The 'bent' gantry seen in the ball is a gantry across the road, dawn is breaking from the right of the photograph. This sculptured man is staring into the centre of the chromed ball - and here goes for my theory of why. If you stand a fair way away from this chromed reflective surface, you see quite a wide picture of the surrounding area. As you approach the ball the reflected area seen gets less and less until you are right on top of the ball and you see very little. The outside world having shrunk down to this size, the sculptured man believes that the next stage is to travel from the outside world to the inside world - he is trying to see inside his head. Whether the theory is right, wrong or personal to the viewer, the chap has not moved since the sculpture was placed there. This particular shot was taken in 2000. The original, in tiff format, has a file size of  70 Mb. Print sizes and costs are at the bottom of this page with regard to one off purchases for your own use. Photo 1851. Part of the successful licentiate distinction application to the Royal Photographic Society in 2003. The traditional terracotta Greek pot, here cast into a step and painted, when new, in the white colours of the house and steps. The pealing paint has left a beautiful pattern and, where the terracotta looks rough, the surface has spalled due to water penetration and frost - again leaving a beautiful pattern. This particular shot, taken on the island of Skopelos, Greece, in 1999, in tiff format has a file size of 29.2 Mb. Print sizes and costs are at the bottom of this page. On the coast at Paphos on Cyprus is the 'Mosaic Area' and this shot is through an arch at the Mosaic Area, back toward the new town. This particular shot, taken in 2002, in tiff format has a file size of 29.3 Mb. Print sizes and costs are at the bottom of this page.
