The sign is not very politically correct neither is it inviting to women as it exclaims "Bass For Men."  The street lamp in the foreground appears to be a gas lamp and is numbered 368/1, the BBC website for Plymouth shows, in a  documentary, the dismantling of these Victorian gas lamps to be sold to America as curios.
