The pub is a Bass Charrington pub but has the monogram SA or AS on the windows. The sign is not very politically correct neither is it inviting to women as it exclaims "Bass For Men." The street lamp in the foreground appears to be a gas lamp and is numbered 368/1, the BBC website for Plymouth shows, in a documentary, the dismantling of these Victorian gas lamps to be sold to America as curios.
